Chameleon Street

Johnny L.

It seems like the war has been won

So why then, has a battle begun?

It doesn’t really matter in the scheme of things

I’ve pondered, I’ve plotted, I’ve planned

And given you the uppermost hand

I do what I can but it’s never enough

I’m saving my quarters and I’m calling your bluff

Now I wonder what the future holds

Fit right in or left out in the cold

Place our bets and then I watch you fold

As the cars roll up and down

Chameleon Street

I’ve seen luck materialize

So watching luck dry up comes as no real surprise

It’s really pretty easy once you’ve got it down

I’ll pray for another last chance

So we’ll go on doing the dance

But I’m getting dizzy from spinning in space

I’m winning gold medals but I’m losing the race

Now I wonder what the future holds

Fit right in or left out in the cold

Place our bets and then I watch you fold

As the cars roll up and down
